Aleksandar Vukic enters the first-round matchup at the 2026 National Bank Open on Montreal hard courts as the lower-ranked player at approximately No. 105, while Daniel Altmaier sits around No. 60-62. Vukic holds a 2-1 head-to-head edge, including straight-sets hard-court wins in their two most recent meetings, most notably in Tokyo in 2025. Altmaier arrives with a disappointing 12-21 record for the season and recent losses on clay in Kitzbühel, while Vukic has shown stronger recent results on hard surfaces. The indoor/outdoor hard conditions and Vukic’s surface-specific form represent key variables for this ATP Masters 1000 opener, where ranking gaps have narrowed in prior encounters between the pair.
