Shevchenko, a taller right-hander with a physical edge, enters off a Rome Masters R64 loss to Karen Khachanov last week, holding a modest 1-3 clay record this season amid a 7-9 YTD mark. Gaston, the crafty French lefty benefiting from home-crowd support, comes from a Q1 Rome qualifying defeat to Andrea Pellegrino, struggling at 0-4 on clay in 2026 with multiple early exits like Marrakech R32 and Madrid qual. Trader consensus weighs Shevchenko's ranking and serve power against Gaston's movement and spin, with no reported injuries or withdrawals altering the closely contested matchup ahead of French Open prep.
