Recent Pakistani warnings in June and August 2026 framed water access as a “red line,” with officials referencing potential military responses if flows are disrupted. Unrest in Kashmir, including postponed assembly elections amid violence, and a new trilateral defense pact involving Pakistan, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia have added to regional frictions. No major new military incidents have occurred since the 2025 ceasefire, though analysts note risks from militant activity or escalation triggers could influence probabilities ahead of any resolution windows.
