Early in the 2026 NCAA Division I season, the rushing touchdowns race remains wide open, with trader consensus reflecting dozens of viable candidates clustered near even implied probabilities. Preseason standouts such as Ahmad Hardy, Kewan Lacy, Cam Cook, Jadan Baugh, and Caleb Hawkins return after strong 2025 campaigns featuring high volume and scoring rates, while sophomores like Bo Jackson at Ohio State and emerging options including Nate Sheppard and Mark Fletcher Jr. add depth. Early results show distributed production across conferences, with no single back separating through multiple games amid rotations, committee backfields, and varying goal-line usage. Situational factors like offensive line health, quarterback play, and schedule strength continue to shape opportunities without clear separation yet.
