FIFA president Gianni Infantino’s late-April confirmation that Iran’s national team will contest all three 2026 World Cup group-stage matches on U.S. soil has anchored trader consensus for no replacement at 85.6 percent. Iran’s football federation reiterated its firm commitment to participate while voicing only logistical concerns over visas and flag protocols, which FIFA and host organizers have signaled will be resolved without altering the qualified slot. Italy’s outright rejection of any replacement role and the AFC’s established qualification order further dampen outside chances, leaving the UAE at 3.9 percent as the next plausible alternate under existing regulations. While an unprecedented formal withdrawal or visa blockade remains theoretically possible, recent official statements and FIFA’s discretionary authority to maintain field stability continue to outweigh those low-probability scenarios.
