Cristiano Ronaldo, at age 41, enters the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a historically low conversion rate on direct free kicks in major tournaments, managing just one goal across more than 60 attempts in World Cups and European Championships combined. Portugal's captain continues to demonstrate set-piece threat in club action for Al Nassr, recently adding his 65th career free-kick goal, yet international opportunities remain infrequent due to team setup, defensive organization by opponents, and potential rotation or minutes management. A recent hamstring injury raised availability questions, though coach Roberto Martínez has confirmed selection based on current form rather than age. These factors underpin the market's strong lean toward no free-kick goal occurring during the tournament.
