The Italian has shown recent momentum with victories over higher-ranked opponents at the Italian Open, while Roman Andres Burruchaga, ranked around 56, relies on consistent Challenger results but has posted a modest record at the ATP level on the surface. Their lone prior meeting ended in a straight-sets Darderi win on clay in 2023. Factors such as Darderi’s superior serve and return game, combined with Burruchaga’s limited experience against top competition, shape trader views on the matchup, though the Argentine remains capable of competitive sets if he maintains high first-serve percentages.
