Javokhir Sindarov's dominant victory in the 2026 FIDE Candidates Tournament, clinched with a round to spare in Cyprus, has positioned the 20-year-old Uzbek grandmaster as the clear market favorite to dethrone defending champion Gukesh Dommaraju in their upcoming title match. Sindarov outpaced a strong field with consistent results and superior preparation, reflecting the wisdom of crowds in current pricing that assigns him the higher implied probability. Gukesh, still adjusting after his 2024 title win, enters as the underdog despite his experience, with recent rapid and blitz encounters showing mixed head-to-head form. The match, slated for November and December, features two young players with no major injury or scheduling concerns, though Sindarov's recent momentum and stylistic edge in classical play continue to shape trader sentiment around the closely contested but lopsided probabilities.
