California's 3rd Congressional District nonpartisan top-two primary on June 2 will determine the two general election candidates, with early voting underway since May 4 showing Republicans narrowly leading ballot returns despite Democratic voter registration edges. Incumbent Ami Bera (D), who shifted into the redrawn district after Proposition 50's 2025 mid-decade remap boosted its Safe Democratic lean by adding Sacramento areas and trimming GOP strongholds, dominates fundraising with over $850,000 raised and stands as the clear frontrunner. A crowded Democratic field—including challengers Chris Bennett, Heidi Hall, and Lyndon Cervantes—competes for second place, while Republicans Christine Bish, Robb Tucker (endorsed by former Rep. Kevin Kiley), and inactive Laura Koscki trail; traders watch turnout and late polls for potential top-two surprises in this low-turnout primary.
