SpaceX confirmed plans for its Flight 14 Starship test in late August 2026 to pursue the first orbital upper-stage catch using the Mechazilla tower's chopstick arms, following Flight 13's July 24 booster and Ship splashdowns. This aligns with Elon Musk's earlier targets for initial Ship recovery attempts on flights 13–15 once V3 hardware matures, building on repeated Super Heavy booster catches that validated tower operations and rapid reusability. Key variables for traders include launch vehicle performance, heat-shield integrity under aggressive reentry profiles, and any regulatory or technical holds that could shift the timeline into September. The market currently prices August 31 and September 30 outcomes near even odds, reflecting consensus around a near-term attempt window rather than guaranteed success.

A successful catch is defined as the chopsticks capturing and supporting the Starship upper stage without it falling to the ground or causing catastrophic damage during the landing process.
If SpaceX attempts an ocean splashdown of the Starship upper stage instead of attempting to catch it using the Orbital Launch Tower's chopsticks, that attempt will not qualify. If no Starship launch occurs, or a successful catch does not take place, by the specified date, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "No."
The resolution source for this market will be official video provided by SpaceX (https://www.youtube.com/c/SpaceX), as well as secondary video feeds and/or written reports if necessary.
