Recent adult Chinook passage at Bonneville Dam through late August 2026 totals near 348,000 fish since August 1, tracking close to the five-year average and slightly above 2025 levels according to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers data. Fall-run components, which dominate late-season counts through October 31, depend on Columbia River flows, water temperatures typically 15–20 °C that influence migration timing and energy reserves, and ocean productivity indices affecting adult returns. Preseason forecasts from regional technical committees project roughly 637,000 total adult fall Chinook for 2026, with daily visual and video counts plus DART inseason models providing updates that can shift trader-implied probabilities. Key upcoming releases include weekly USACE passage summaries and any revised hydrographic or temperature outlooks from NOAA that may alter remaining run timing.
