Recent leaks and component cost analyses have pushed trader consensus toward a Steam Machine base price of $700 or higher at its 2026 launch, with the market-implied 75% probability for "Yes" reflecting ongoing RAM and storage supply constraints that have already delayed the device. Bill-of-materials estimates for the CPU, GPU, and storage configurations now hover between $700 and $850, aligning with Valve's stated intent to price the hardware more like a mid-range PC than a console. While some reports suggest a $600–650 entry point for the 512 GB model, escalating production expenses and the separate $100 Steam Controller release underscore the pressure to avoid losses on the core system. Upcoming announcements on exact pricing and storage tiers remain the key near-term catalysts that could shift sentiment.
