Both teams enter the late-season AL Central matchup hampered by extensive injuries, with Detroit missing key outfielders Riley Greene (hamstring), Kerry Carpenter (heel), and Matt Vierling (adductor) alongside starters Jack Flaherty and Justin Verlander, while Cleveland deals with absences including José Ramírez. The Tigers sit at 63-73 after a recent skid, trailing the Guardians (near .500) and the division-leading White Sox, following the trade of ace Tarik Skubal. Head-to-head results favor Cleveland this year, though both clubs face tight wild-card implications and upcoming schedule tests that hinge on bullpen reliability, recent form, and any late roster reinforcements.
