The Milwaukee Brewers hold an eight-game lead over the Chicago Cubs in the NL Central with a 84-51 record entering late August, fueled by a +178 run differential and strong recent form (7-3 in their last 10). The Cubs sit at 76-59 after dropping three straight and posting a 4-6 mark over the same span. The teams meet for a four-game set starting August 31 at Wrigley Field, with additional home dates for Milwaukee in early September. Key factors include Milwaukee’s rotation depth despite injuries to relievers like Abner Uribe and JoJo Romero on rehab, versus Chicago’s depleted staff with multiple starters (Jameson Taillon, Ben Brown, Edward Cabrera) on the IL. These elements shape trader consensus around the Brewers’ consistent edge in divisional play.
