Elena Rybakina enters the National Bank Open as the No. 2 seed with a dominant 34-11 record in 2026 and multiple titles, leveraging her powerful serve and consistent baseline game on hard courts where she has historically performed strongly. Liudmila Samsonova, a former Montreal finalist who defeated Rybakina in straight sets in 2023, has shown improved form in Toronto with wins over Maya Joint and Barbora Krejcikova, building momentum on the surface. Their head-to-head favors Samsonova 3-2 overall, including multiple hard-court victories, though Rybakina's current ranking edge and recent three-set recovery against Daria Kasatkina highlight her resilience. Any late-round clash would hinge on serving efficiency and handling pressure in potential tiebreaks.
