The 2026-27 Ligue 2 campaign features unusual parity at the top due to an influx of established clubs recently relegated from Ligue 1, including Nantes, Metz, Saint-Étienne, Reims, and Montpellier HSC. These sides bring deeper squads, larger budgets, and top-flight infrastructure compared with typical second-division outfits, flattening the hierarchy and preventing any single favorite from pulling clear. Early-season results have shown tight contests among this group alongside ambitious mid-table clubs such as Guingamp, Grenoble, and Annecy, while promoted sides like Dijon and Sochaux add further variables. With multiple teams sharing comparable resources and recent form, trader consensus reflects the league’s balanced profile rather than clear dominance by one contender.
