This market will resolve to according to the candidate who wins the 2026 California gubernatorial election currently scheduled for November 3, 2026. If the results of the election are not confirmed by July 31, 2027, this market will resolve to "Other". The resolution source for this market is the Associated Press, Fox News, and NBC. This market will resolve once all three sources call the race for the same candidate. If all three sources haven’t called the race in this state for the same candidate, this market will resolve based on official certification.Xavier Becerra’s commanding position in the California governor race stems from his June 2026 top-two primary victory, where he secured 28% of the vote and advanced alongside Republican Steve Hilton. As a former state attorney general and U.S. Health and Human Services secretary, Becerra consolidated Democratic support in a crowded field through endorsements from labor unions, progressive groups, and elected officials while emphasizing his record on protecting state priorities amid federal policy shifts. Post-primary polls show him leading Hilton by 18–25 points, consistent with California’s long Democratic dominance in statewide contests and forecaster ratings classifying the race as safe for the party. Hilton’s lower support reflects limited Republican statewide success since 2006. Potential shifts could arise from major late developments such as economic downturns, turnout surges, or unforeseen candidate issues before the November 3 general election.
