Recent data showing China's CPI inflation easing to a six-month low of 0.5% year-on-year in July 2026, below expectations of 0.8%, has reinforced trader focus on subdued price pressures. Persistent weakness in domestic demand, falling food costs, and slower non-food inflation have kept readings near or below 1% for much of the year, aligning with forecasts from sources like the ADB at 1.2% and IMF around 0.9% for the full year. These trends, alongside soft producer prices and expectations for potential policy support, underpin the leading 0.6–1.0% outcome at 44% probability in the market consensus.
