Florida's 2nd congressional district maintains a strong Republican tilt in the 2026 cycle, with trader consensus at 83.5% for the Republican nominee reflecting its consistent voting patterns and race ratings from outlets like the Cook Political Report and Sabato's Crystal Ball classifying it as solidly or safely Republican. The open seat following incumbent Neal Dunn's retirement has drawn a crowded primary field, with eight Republican contenders raising the bulk of nearly $8 million in early campaign funds compared to Democratic totals under $750,000. Recent state legislative approval of a new congressional map in late April, signed by Governor Ron DeSantis on May 4, further entrenches GOP advantages across Florida's districts, though legal challenges persist. Upcoming August primaries and November general election timing keep focus on candidate consolidation and turnout in this north Florida battleground.
