Early results reinforce this positioning, with Canada securing opening wins including a 5-3 victory over Sweden that highlighted superior skill and finishing. Finland and Switzerland follow as next contenders due to proven defensive structures and goaltending stability, with the hosts also benefiting from home-ice familiarity in a tournament where upsets remain possible. Sweden and the United States, the defending champions, trail amid roster constraints from ongoing NHL playoffs, while lower-priced nations face steeper paths against top competition.
