Hsu Hsin-ying's strong position as the Kuomintang nominee for the November 28, 2026, Hsinchu County magistrate race reflects the party's primary victory in March 2026 and its uninterrupted hold on the office since 2001. The KMT's internal unity efforts, including recent rallies emphasizing continuity in governance, have consolidated support behind her candidacy as a sitting legislator. In contrast, the Democratic Progressive Party's June nomination of Cheng Chao-fang positions the main challenger with limited recent momentum to shift the race. Other listed candidates, including former primary rival Chen Chien-hsien, register minimal trader interest due to the absence of viable independent or third-party pathways. The November election timeline leaves room for standard campaign developments but currently aligns with historical patterns favoring the established KMT county machine.
