Morgan Stanley holds a narrow 49% edge over Goldman Sachs at 44.5% in the lead underwriter market for Anthropic’s anticipated October 2026 IPO, reflecting a tight contest for the “lead left” book-runner role. Both banks were selected as top book runners in June 2026 filings, with the winner poised to capture the largest share of underwriting fees from what could be a multi-billion-dollar float at a roughly $2 trillion valuation. Differentiating factors include each firm’s recent tech IPO track record—Goldman’s lead-left win on SpaceX versus Morgan Stanley’s broader equity capital markets franchise—alongside historical relationships with Anthropic’s backers and capacity to manage information barriers amid dual OpenAI-Anthropic mandates. JPMorgan trails at 6.5% as a supporting underwriter, while other banks remain marginal. The outcome hinges on final S-1 positioning and allocation negotiations before the confidential filing advances.

If no IPO occurs by December 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, or Anthropic completes an initial public offering without a designated lead underwriter, this market will resolve to “Other.”
If multiple banks are identified as lead underwriters, this market will resolve according to the primary lead underwriter. If the hierarchy between them is unclear, this market will resolve once it is conclusively evident which bank is the primary lead underwriter, for example, through the order in which the banks are listed in the underwriting section of Anthropic’s final initial public offering prospectus, once released.
The primary resolution source for this market will be official disclosures from Anthropic. A consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
