Luke Kennard enters 2026 free agency as an unrestricted veteran sharpshooter coming off a productive stretch with the Lakers, where his catch-and-shoot efficiency and playoff contributions raised his value. Multiple teams with roster needs or cap flexibility—including the Pistons (his original franchise), Nuggets, Clippers, Rockets, and others—have shown interest in adding spacing and perimeter scoring. The Lakers have signaled intent to retain him but face competing priorities with other free agents and potential star moves. Kennard’s projected $8–13 million salary range and stated preference for winning organizations keep options open, leaving the market evenly divided with no single frontrunner emerging in the early stages of negotiations.
