Kawhi Leonard’s strong preference for rejoining the Toronto Raptors, where he won the 2019 NBA title, has anchored trader sentiment around that destination following the June 30 trade agreement that sent him from the Clippers in exchange for Brandon Ingram, Gradey Dick, and multiple first-round picks. The Raptors’ willingness to negotiate a two-year extension worth up to roughly $124–126 million further solidified the outcome, as Leonard indicated he would only commit long-term in Toronto. An ongoing league investigation into alleged salary-cap circumvention tied to Aspiration has left the deal in limbo into late August, preserving modest probability on the Clippers and a handful of other suitors while the market treats the Raptors as the consensus landing spot. Leonard’s productive 2025-26 campaign and the Clippers’ shift toward a youth movement reinforced the separation from Los Angeles.
