The San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder entered the 2026 Western Conference playoffs as the clear top seeds, finishing the regular season with 62 and 64 wins respectively behind strong records, elite defense, and young cores anchored by Victor Wembanyama and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. The Spurs advanced past the Portland Trail Blazers in five games and the Minnesota Timberwolves in six before facing the defending champion Thunder in a seven-game Western Conference Finals series marked by high-scoring affairs, multiple overtimes, and road victories. Wembanyama’s production in elimination games and San Antonio’s depth proved decisive in the decisive Game 7 win on the road. Other contenders like the Lakers, Rockets, Nuggets, and Timberwolves showed competitive regular-season form but faced earlier exits due to matchup difficulties or injuries. Trader consensus reflected these regular-season standings, head-to-head trends, and recent playoff momentum shifts.
