The Berlin state election on September 20 will determine the composition of the Abgeordnetenhaus, which then elects the next Governing Mayor. Trader pricing reflects a fragmented field in which Elif Eralp of Die Linke holds a narrow lead over CDU replacement candidate Stefan Evers, with Green, SPD, and AfD contenders trailing. Evers assumed the CDU top spot in mid-July after Kai Wegner withdrew amid criticism of the party’s response to a major power outage. Recent polling shows support divided among five parties near or below 20 percent each, complicating coalition arithmetic and leaving open multiple paths to a majority. Housing shortages, public safety, and budget pressures remain central campaign issues that could still shift voter blocs before election night.
