Municipal elections are currently scheduled to be held in Czechia on October 9-10, 2026. The next mayor of Liberec will be elected by the newly constituted council following the 2026 Czech municipal elections. This market will resolve to the first individual who officially assumes the role of Mayor of Liberec following the 2026 Czech municipal elections. A qualifying individual must be elected mayor by the city council. Temporary, interim, or placeholder mayors appointed before the election will not be considered. If the result of this election isn't known by June 30, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, the market will resolve to "Other". The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the government of Czechia and Liberec.Lukáš Hájek, the Starostové pro Liberecký kraj (SLK) candidate and current councilor, holds a modest lead in trader pricing ahead of the October 9-10, 2026 municipal elections because his party has governed Liberec for over seven years with demonstrated stability under outgoing mayor Jaroslav Zámečník. SLK is contesting independently after ending its prior alliance with TOP 09 and KDU-ČSL, positioning Hájek as the continuity choice on a list that includes Zámečník in second place. Competing lists—led by figures such as Jiří Veselka (ODS-linked), Zdeněk Chmelík (TOP 09/Liberecká 9), Tibor Batthyány (new Libe! coalition), and Jan Hruška (Piráti + LOL)—have fragmented the field through new alliances and program-focused campaigns on issues like schools, transport, and city management. The tight market reflects uncertainty over final council composition and post-election coalition talks that will select the mayor, with limited recent polling or major shifts leaving room for last-minute developments like turnout patterns or alliance signals to alter probabilities.
