Any interim or caretaker Prime Minister who does not receive a parliamentary vote of confidence will not count toward the resolution of this market. If no such Prime Minister takes office by March 31, 2028, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to “Other”. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Government of Spain; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.Alberto Núñez Feijóo leads the market at 78.5% as leader of the opposition Partido Popular, which maintains a consistent polling advantage over the PSOE heading into Spain’s next general election due by August 2027. Pedro Sánchez, the incumbent at 14.8%, governs through a fragile minority coalition reliant on regional parties, amid ongoing pressure from corruption investigations including the Koldo affair and recent convictions tied to former ministers. Recent developments such as the Ceuta migrant crisis have intensified opposition criticism of government management while highlighting legislative paralysis and budget delays. Traders price in Feijóo’s stronger path to forming a workable majority or coalition, reflecting broader shifts in voter sentiment captured in multiple 2026 surveys. The market resolution window extends to March 2028, allowing for potential early elections or post-vote negotiations.
