This market will resolve to “Yes” if any bill, measure, or resolution that requires proof of U.S. citizenship as a condition for registering to vote or to vote in U.S. federal elections is passed by both chambers of the U.S. Congress and signed into law, or is otherwise enacted into U.S. federal law, by the specified date, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". Examples of qualifying legislation include H.R. 22, the “SAVE Act,” and H.R. 7296, the “SAVE America Act.” The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the government of the United States; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used. The Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, requiring documentary proof of U.S. citizenship such as a passport or birth certificate for federal voter registration, passed the House as H.R. 22 in April 2025 and again in February 2026 via an amended S. 1383 (SAVE America Act, 218-213). Progress stalled in the Senate, where cloture failed 53-47 on March 26 amid filibuster opposition, falling short of the 60-vote threshold. As of early May, Senate GOP leaders shelved further votes amid broader filibuster reform debates. With no committee advancement or floor action since, traders weigh slim enactment odds before 2026 midterms or lame-duck session, absent bipartisan support or procedural changes.
