SpaceX’s completed June 2026 IPO at a $1.77 trillion valuation, followed by a post-listing market cap that has held near or above $1.8–2 trillion, drives the 93.7% trader consensus favoring it over OpenAI. The aerospace firm’s Starlink revenue base, xAI integration, and record capital raise established a high bar that OpenAI’s latest $852 billion private valuation and $1 trillion-plus IPO target have yet to approach. OpenAI’s confidential filing and reported shift toward a 2027 debut—partly to avoid SpaceX-style volatility—further reinforce the gap. While OpenAI’s accelerating annual recurring revenue above $40 billion could support a stronger outcome if its timeline accelerates, substantial outperformance would be required to close the difference before resolution.
