Magomed Ankalaev’s light heavyweight positioning after his fifth-round TKO of Bogdan Guskov at UFC Abu Dhabi on July 25 keeps the next-opponent market competitive, with Carlos Ulberg, Paulo Costa, and Jiri Prochazka as the clearest options. Ulberg holds the belt but remains sidelined by an ACL injury sustained at UFC 327, limiting immediate title-fight clarity. Ankalaev has repeatedly called out Costa, who declined a short-notice bout earlier and has not fought since his April head-kick win over Azamat Murzakanov. Prochazka sits lower after his loss to Ulberg but remains a ranked name with stylistic appeal. Multiple ranked contenders, recent form resets, and Ankalaev’s willingness to fight anyone sustain the tight distribution among these names.
