**Carlos Alcaraz’s prolonged right-wrist injury (tenosynovitis) since April remains the dominant factor shaping the 65% implied probability for his U.S. Open participation.** The defending champion has not played a competitive match in over four months, withdrawing from the Barcelona Open second round and subsequently missing Roland Garros, Wimbledon, the Canadian Open, and most recently the Cincinnati Masters 1000 in early August to prioritize recovery. He remains on the official entry list for the August 30 start in New York, and his team continues to target full fitness for the hard-court major, with reports of gradual training intensity increases—though sources indicate sessions at roughly 55% effort as recently as the past week. The absence of any official withdrawal keeps the “Yes” side favored in trader consensus, yet the lack of match play, the missed final warm-up events, and the short timeline before the draw create meaningful downside risk. Winston-Salem (beginning August 23) offers a last possible tune-up, but no commitment has been announced. These elements together explain why market pricing reflects a clear but far-from-certain path to the tournament rather than a lock.

Carlos Alcaraz is considered to have "played" if he takes the court and play begins in any of his main-draw singles matches. Being entered in the draw, or an opponent's retirement or walkover before any play begins, does not by itself count as having played. If Alcaraz begins a match and then retires or is defaulted, this market will resolve "Yes."
If the tournament is postponed beyond September 27, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, or canceled before Alcaraz plays a main-draw singles match, this market will resolve "No."
The resolution source for this market will be official information from the US Open (usopen.org); however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
