New Jersey 5s enter the Toray MLP Playoffs quarterfinal matchup as the top seed with the league’s strongest regular-season record and a stacked roster anchored by Anna Leigh Waters and Jorja Johnson in women’s and mixed doubles, plus recent acquisition Federico Staksrud bolstering men’s and mixed play. Palm Beach Royals, the No. 7 seed, counter with Sofia Sewing, Tina Pisnik, and Tyson McGuffin but have dealt with roster adjustments after Dekel Bar and Grayson Goldin were sidelined, relying on Casey Diamond as an alternate in recent events. The best-of series format and home-court dynamics at the Newport Beach venue amplify the 5s’ experience edge in high-stakes team competition, while the Royals seek to exploit stylistic matchups in doubles formats.
