xAI's rapid iteration on Grok 4.x models has traders focused on the path to Grok 5, with Elon Musk's April 18 announcement driving recent sentiment: Grok 4.4 (1 trillion parameters, training data to early April) targeted for early May release, followed by Grok 4.5 (1.5T parameters) by late May. Musk hinted Grok 5 could achieve AGI-like capabilities, capable of outperforming humans in tasks like AI engineering or gaming such as League of Legends. No official Grok 5 timeline exists beyond earlier 2026 projections amid compute scaling on Colossus superclusters, but delays from prior roadmaps (e.g., December 2025 "few months") underscore uncertainty. Competitive pressure from OpenAI's GPT-5 and Anthropic's Claude intensifies scrutiny, with benchmarks and real-time capabilities as key resolution factors. Watch xAI API updates and Musk's X posts for catalysts.

For this market to resolve to "Yes," Grok 5 must be launched and publicly accessible, including via open beta or open rolling waitlist signups. A closed beta or any form of private access will not suffice. The release must be clearly defined and publicly announced by xAI as being accessible to the general public.
Grok 5 refers to a product explicitly named Grok 5 (e.g. Grok 5.0 would count), or one that is recognized as a successor to Grok 4 similar to the progression from Grok 2 to Grok 3. Products labeled as Grok 4.5 or similar will not count for this market's resolution.
The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from xAI, with additional verification from a consensus of credible reporting.
