Messi holds a 66% implied probability in the World Cup goals head-to-head, reflecting trader consensus on his edge in the 2026 tournament. At 38, Messi benefits from greater team support around Argentina’s defending-champion squad, proven knockout-stage production (five of his 13 career World Cup goals), and stronger recent creative output compared with Ronaldo’s 41-year-old profile. Ronaldo enters with eight career World Cup goals and no knockout-round tallies, while Portugal’s group path and his forward role face steeper physical demands. Both players are set for record sixth appearances with minimal reported injury concerns, yet Messi’s age, assist volume, and Argentina’s depth align with the current pricing favoring him to outscore his rival.
