The Chicago White Sox hold a narrow AL Central lead at 67-61 while the Minnesota Twins sit at 63-66, four-and-a-half games back and clinging to the final AL wild-card spot amid a crowded race. Chicago’s improved roster depth and recent home success have kept them ahead despite multiple pitching injuries, including Davis Martin’s blister. Minnesota has shown fight with sweeps of strong teams but continues to battle absences such as Joe Ryan, Pablo López’s recovery timeline, and Austin Martin’s hamstring strain, limiting rotation stability. Recent series results and bullpen usage will shape late-August outcomes, with both clubs facing tight schedules and playoff implications that influence lineup decisions and rest management.
