The Miami Marlins (68-68) visit the Washington Nationals (65-73) on August 30 at Nationals Park, with Janson Junk (6-8, 4.21 ERA) opposing Andrew Alvarez (2-6, 3.72 ERA). Washington has won the last two meetings, including a 5-4 walk-off victory on August 29 and a 9-2 rout the prior day, extending a home win streak while the Marlins dropped consecutive games. The Nationals lead MLB in home runs and rank second in runs scored despite a higher team ERA, whereas Miami’s staff holds the edge in run prevention. Multiple injuries on both sides, including Marlins relievers on the IL and Nationals outfielder James Wood (oblique), shape available lineups. The matchup occurs in the final weeks of the season, with Miami 13 games back in the NL East.
