This market will resolve based on the specified list regardless of navigation procedure. This market may resolve as soon as the specified list for 2026 is released. If Google does not release the specified list by March 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to “Other.” The resolution source for this market will be the specified list as published by Google.Dolly Parton's death from cancer on August 25, 2026, at age 80 has driven the leading 52% market-implied odds, triggering a major Google Trends spike for obituary-related queries that continues to shape year-to-date U.S. search volume. Traders view her status as a cultural icon—with decades of hits, philanthropy, and broad media coverage—as likely to sustain top positioning through year-end unless a later high-profile passing generates comparable or greater algorithmic interest. The tight cluster around 50% for other candidates reflects uncertainty over remaining 2026 developments, including potential celebrity or public-figure deaths that could alter relative search rankings on Google's platform. Key resolution factors include official Google Trends data for "passing" or obituary terms, where recency, media amplification, and demographic reach typically determine the annual leader.
