The primary resolution source will be official information from FIDE; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.Defending World Champion Gukesh Dommaraju and Candidates winner Javokhir Sindarov share trader consensus at 53% implied probability each for the 2026 FIDE World Chess Championship match, reflecting a razor-thin contest between two teenage grandmasters ahead of their late-November classical showdown. Sindarov's dominant, unbeaten 9.5/13 score to claim the Candidates in mid-April propelled him into the FIDE top five on the May 2026 rating list, building on his 2025 World Cup triumph and recent blitz wins over Gukesh at the Grand Chess Tour Super Rapid & Blitz Poland last week. Yet Gukesh's rapid victory there, title defense experience, and refusal to name favorites underscore his resilience amid form struggles, keeping the wisdom of crowds evenly split on stylistic matchups and preparation for 14 grueling games.
