The 2026-27 Ligue 2 campaign opened just days ago on August 8 with an unusually open field, as multiple recently relegated Ligue 1 sides (Saint-Étienne, Metz, Nantes, Montpellier, Reims) join ambitious clubs like Red Star, Boulogne, Dijon, and Sochaux in chasing the two automatic promotion places and playoff spots. Early matchday results show tight results among the top sides, with no dominant performer emerging yet, while roster reinforcements and pre-season form have kept implied probabilities clustered between roughly 36% and 48%. This bunched pricing reflects broad trader consensus on the division’s depth, variable fixture difficulty, and potential for momentum swings in a 34-match schedule where injuries, squad rotation, and head-to-head results can rapidly reshape standings.
