This market will resolve to “Yes” if any European Union (EU) member state withdraws from the EU by December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”. An EU member state will be considered to have withdrawn once they officially initiate their withdrawal and/or formally notify the European Council of their intention to withdraw, regardless of whether the withdrawal is finalized after this market’s timeframe. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the European Union and EU member states; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.High trader consensus on no EU member state withdrawing before 2027 stems from the absence of viable exit movements across the bloc since Brexit, whose economic and diplomatic costs have shifted Eurosceptic parties toward internal reform or veto strategies rather than departure. Member states face significant procedural, legal, and financial hurdles to leaving, reinforced by shared security and economic interdependence amid external pressures. Fringe calls for Frexit or Italexit remain marginal without broad electoral backing or scheduled referendums. Realistic scenarios that could still shift odds include a major domestic political realignment empowering hard Eurosceptics in a key state or an unforeseen crisis prompting renegotiation demands, though such developments would require time to translate into formal withdrawal steps.
