Clement Chidekh enters the US Open qualifying first round on outdoor hard courts as the clear favorite, holding the No. 185 ranking with a strong 2026 record on the surface and recent challenger results that include multiple wins in Kingston. The 25-year-old Frenchman has compiled a solid hard-court win rate above 68% over his career and arrives with better momentum than Federico Coria. The 34-year-old Argentine, currently ranked near No. 897 after a steep decline, has posted just five wins in 2026 with most activity on clay where he has historically performed best. This marks their first meeting, and Coria’s limited recent success on hard courts creates a significant gap reflected in trader pricing. Schedule factors such as travel from prior events and adaptation to Flushing Meadows conditions remain secondary to the ranking and surface disparity.
