Federico Agustin Gomez enters this US Open qualifying match as the stronger player on paper, holding a current ATP ranking of 181 compared to Aziz Dougaz’s 629, with a career-high of 133 that reflects greater experience at higher levels. Gomez has posted a balanced 31-30 record over the past year across Challenger and ATP events, while Dougaz has shown flashes of form in lower-tier events but remains outside the top 600 after a career-best 185. Their lone prior meeting came on clay in 2023, giving little surface-specific insight for this hard-court encounter in New York. Recent scheduling shows both players active in the lead-up to the qualifiers, with Gomez demonstrating solid recent results in similar events. The hard-court conditions and Grand Slam qualifying format favor the higher-ranked Argentine’s consistency and serve-return game, though Dougaz’s left-handed game and recent match wins keep the contest competitive.
