Michelle Dracoulis, the incumbent mayor of Derwent Valley Council in Tasmania, holds the leading trader consensus at 62.5% for the October 27, 2026, local government election under the preferential voting system. Recent council actions, including budget measures that shifted the authority toward a projected surplus and the appointment of a new CEO after a national recruitment process, have strengthened her position following a failed November 2025 no-confidence motion. Limited public campaigns from challengers ahead of the September 21 nomination deadline keep probabilities for Jess Burns at 11% and James Randall at 6.5%, while numerous other listed candidates sit at 50% amid low visibility. These factors reflect trader assessments of incumbency advantages and governance outcomes in a closely watched Tasmanian mayoral contest.
