Strong institutional frameworks, treaty-based decision-making, and deep economic interdependence among member states sustain trader consensus that the EU will remain intact through 2026. Recent developments reinforce this view, including ongoing multiannual financial framework negotiations for 2028-2034, formal EU-Ukraine accession talks, and the upcoming European Council summit focused on competitiveness, defense, and migration. Modest GDP growth projections around 1.1% and routine policy coordination show no signs of systemic fracture. While coordinated internal vetoes by populist governments or a major external shock such as escalated geopolitical conflict could theoretically accelerate exits, these barriers remain substantial given historical precedent and current stability.
