Hsu Hsin-ying holds an 88.5% implied probability as the leading outcome in the Hsinchu County magistrate race, driven by her March 2026 victory in the Kuomintang primary over incumbent deputy magistrate Chen Chien-hsien. The KMT has controlled the county magistracy since 2001, providing organizational and voter base advantages ahead of the November 28, 2026, local elections. Party statements in August 2026 emphasized the need for unity to retain the seat, following earlier nomination disputes. Cheng Chao-fang at 11.5% and lower-priced alternatives such as Lin Szu-ming reflect limited reported opposition momentum or alternative nominations from other parties at this stage. Traders price in these structural and procedural factors while noting that formal candidate registrations or late developments could still influence the field before polling.
