The 2026 Martin mayoral election is currently scheduled to be held on October 24, 2026. This market will resolve according to the candidate who becomes the next Mayor of Martin as a result of this election. Temporary, interim, or placeholder mayors appointed before the election will not be considered. If the result of this election isn't known by March 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, the market will resolve to "Other". This market will resolve based on the results of this election, as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve solely based on official results as reported by government sources of Martin, Žilina Region and Slovakia, including the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic (https://volby.statistics.sk/).**The Martin mayoral race remains closely contested ahead of the October 24, 2026 communal elections, with trader odds reflecting a tight matchup between incumbent Ján Danko and opposition-backed challenger Michal Uherčík.** Danko, in office since 2018 and running as an independent, emphasizes continuity on debt reduction, ecological public transport, and major infrastructure including the new university hospital. Uherčík, a city and regional councilor backed by a broad coalition of SaS, PS, KDH, Hnutie Slovensko, Demokrati, and OKS, highlights financial audits, energy efficiency, attracting investors, the R3 highway, and reversing population decline—issues he raised as runner-up in 2022. Multiple additional candidates, including Milan Ftorek and others, add potential vote fragmentation. The near-even implied probabilities capture the impact of incumbency advantages, unified opposition strategy, and the absence of decisive recent polling shifts in this local contest.
