The National League playoff field has largely taken shape with one month remaining in the 2026 regular season, as the Milwaukee Brewers hold the top seed and best record while the Los Angeles Dodgers and Atlanta Braves battle for the second bye. The Philadelphia Phillies and Chicago Cubs sit comfortably in wild-card spots, with the San Diego Padres clinging to the final berth ahead of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Recent form, remaining schedule strength, and head-to-head tiebreakers will shape seeding for the best-of-five Division Series, directly influencing which teams advance through the bracket to the NLCS. Roster health and bullpen depth remain key variables for these contenders as September unfolds.
