The 2026 Big 12 passing yards race remains tightly bunched early in the season because the conference features an unusually deep group of experienced quarterbacks, including transfers like Drew Mestemaker at Oklahoma State and Alonza Barnett III at UCF alongside returning starters such as Noah Fifita at Arizona, Bear Bachmeier at BYU, Conner Weigman at Houston, and Devon Dampier at Utah. Multiple teams employ high-volume passing schemes that reward efficiency and volume, yet no single signal-caller has separated after the first two weeks, with several posting strong per-game averages amid balanced offenses and competitive schedules. Trader consensus reflects this parity, as late-season factors like injuries, weather, and defensive adjustments could still shift totals significantly among the field.
