The Las Vegas Raiders' quarterback room features veteran Kirk Cousins as the clear frontrunner for Week 1 starter, backed by official training camp plans from head coach Klint Kubiak that prioritize him for the majority of first-team reps. The team drafted Fernando Mendoza first overall in 2026 to develop as the long-term option but intends a measured approach, allowing the rookie time to acclimate to the offense while Cousins bridges the gap. Aidan O'Connell remains a distant third after limited contention in camp. Recent preseason activity has shown Mendoza gaining experience without altering the established hierarchy. A late injury to Cousins or unusually dominant rookie performances could open the door for change, though current roster construction and coaching statements strongly favor the veteran opening the regular season.

In the event two listed quarterbacks take the field on the first offensive play of the Las Vegas Raiders’ Week 1 game, this market will resolve in favor of the player directly receiving the snap. If neither listed quarterback directly receives the snap, this market will resolve in favor of the player whose listed last name comes first alphabetically.
If Week 1 of the 2026-27 NFL regular season is cancelled, postponed after September 30, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, or no official starter has taken the field within that timeframe, this market will resolve to “Other”.
The resolution source for this market will be official information from the NFL and/or the Las Vegas Raiders; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
